We have received an invite to
join in with a robotics weekend - see below:
"The
National Space Centre in Leicester is hosting a robotics weekend on the 17th
and 18th May. It will be a family orientated event with the aim of providing an
entertaining spectacle for the public while at the same time being informative
and inspiring to children and parents alike. We are happy to be working
with some of the largest groups highlighting robots from science fiction, space
science, television and fan culture as well many independent robots built by
individuals and school teams. The format for the event will feature a variety
of robot exhibits including a Robot Wars style competition, robot build
workshops, craft sessions, guest speakers and a showcase of Robocup Junior
Soccer, Dance, and mini-sumo. We estimate around 4,000 people attending over
the weekend.
I was
wondering whether there was a micromouse team who would be interested in
attending the weekend and showcasing micromouse to the public? If you are
interested in attending and have something you think might be of interest to
families and robot fans please let me know as soon as possible so that I can
make arrangements."
OK, I
know this is yet another weekend - and is tightly sandwiched between
Minos'08 and UK Micromouse 2008 - but it is a very good opportunity
to show our wares ...! I am happy to arrange things and to transport a
maze to Leicester if they need one ( didn't they give their maze to RHUL?).
Anyone interested in putting up a united front please let me know asap. I shall
be asking the biped, sumo, and antweight guys out there to join in as well, if
they are not already.
Regards
