RE: UK final 2007 final video from Shannon

The mice are in the drag race contest and run around the outside of the maze. The mice in the video are Thunder and Dee, both mice are specifically designed to compete in this contest and can only turn right.

At approx. 1:25 and at 1:38 there are a couple of mice? wall followers? that are moving at an unbelievable pace.
 
Were these mice or wall followers or? How are they moving so fast?
