ROBOtic'05

Hi everyone,

Just a short note to say thanks to all who turned up to ROBOtic'05 - it went as well as we could have hoped.
Thanks to all who helped in the preparation and running of  it .... in particular my co-organisers Pete Harrison and Keith Osman,  tic staff members Nick, Phil, Alan, Rita, Jean, Andrew,  Gerard, Roger, and students Wayne, Richard, and Dave. We will definitely be running this one again.

Everyone who came enjoyed it . "Build it and they will come..." was never more true. We provided the arena, and we had entrants from the age of 11 upwards come to tic, from as far north as Grimsby,as far South as London, and from Mid Wales, to take part in the ROBOtic'05 micromouse competition - that is a 140 mile radius of tic.

We introduced a new competition- the Drag Race - one that will now be included in all micromouse events that we hold, because of the interest and fun it generated. This competition let everyone compete - we had times from several minutes to less than 10 seconds. Reinforced walls are now a priority for the next competition!

We even managed to entice several of our own students to come, one of whom, only 2 months into his project, entered the drag-race and the non-contact wall-follower classes, and successfuly completed the course in both. Our Midlands Micromouse Club was well represented ... take a look at our web-site for details of the next meeting.

Results and photos will be posted soon on  www.tic.ac.uk/micromouse

Regards
