RE: Rules etc
Hi Everyone,
I keep
grinding away at these rules. For those coming in half-way along, so to
speak, the rule set information is at
http://www.swallow.co.uk/umouse/rules%202005/compare.htm
As
no-one complained, I have put in the bit about fitting in a 25cm square
box.
The next
rule is
"2. The method of wall sensing is at the discretion of the builder;
however, the micromouse must not exert a force on any wall likely to
cause damage."
Thre has
been discussion about this in terms of booby-trap walls that fall over
easily. From a mouse-builder's point of view, I would like a rule that I
can test my mouse against before the competition. Someone suggested walls
that fall over easily; displacement of these walls would add a
penalty.
We could
cut the tongues off a wall and put it somewhere in the maze where mice
will find it difficult to avoid (easy to determine for wall-followers).
If necessary the wall can be loaded to make it heavier and less
sensitive. I am happy to sacrifice one of my plastic walls.
The Judges
would have the responsibility for deciding where. Displacing the wall by
more than 10mm or knocking it over would add a penalty of, say, 5
seconds. There might well be a touch penalty as well if the mouse cannot
recover from the situation it creates.
Comments
please.

Duncan
