RE: Wheel encoders



If you use the sensor in the mouse, you will get quadrature
encoding and if you use both edges of that signal, you get
4 times the edges.  It's best to take a working mouse (that
perhaps has a bad switch or two) and watch the signals with
an oscilloscope.

Using both edges is an obvious(?) solution but needs either more external logic or a MPU which can deal with it.

Try another mouse.  Many mice have 43 ticks/rev - I remember well because it is such an unlikely number.  It is a small improvement but 20% is better than none.
