Umbilicals - Thoughts

Dear All.
I have not read ALL the correspondence on this issue but I feel that the
gist of it is this:-
It is felt that an 'easier' way of building an electronic mouse for
those who may not have all the necessary resources at their disposal is
required.
Well, I suggested something along these lines in June 03, albeit a Wall
Follower rather than a Solver and, at the time, there was a _little_
interest. However, the idea seems to have died soon after.
(see 'Wall Follower Reclassification?' in the Mailing List)

It would seem to me that a mouse designed along the lines of the
'umbilical proposal' is, in many ways, actually more complex to build
than a self-contained 'electronic follower'.
If the difficulty is considered to be that of writing the software then,
as I have shown, it is perfectly feasible to write the program for such
an electronic follower in BASIC - and is there a simpler conventional
programing language than that?
And it took me less than two days!
Regards
