Re: Schools Rules
Hi Everyone,
Thanks Chris for the comment. As far as I know, the only course that has
had a wall specified, other than the rat race, has been the maze course.
The "drop off" that I had in mind for the course was just the thickness of
the course; typically 12mm. This shouldn't damage rogue mice much and is
much easier to detect than whether a mouse has touched the wall. It
effectively increases the width of the course as the mouse can overlap the
edge as long as it doesn't fall off.
There may be good reasons to have some kind of barrier around the course
but, as long as it is at least 30cm from the course, it can be whatever the
event organisers choose to have. If it is specified then it limits what the
organisers can do.
From an individual entrant's point of view, the course should be as cheap
and easy to build as possible. Ths safety hazard of typical mice is
negligible and the walls just add complexity.
Happy New Year!
