Prizes and Classes
Hi Everyone,
I think Nick has some valid points. The idea of separate prizes for
fastest run and shortest search time is a good one. I suspect that mice
that run fast during the search phase by using a "dumb" maze solver would
have an advantage though.
A prize for innovation is a good idea. It should be judged by acclaim so
that the judges do not have to make difficult decisions!
Best PIC mouse may be a problem. This forces people to use a particular
device and may prevent the use of available development tools and hardware.
However, I have no better suggestion for a simple, entry level competition
in the maze solving class.
I am a little confused by the first shortest run. Is this a prize for the
first time a particular mouse reaches the centre? If not, how is the
shortest route defined? My vote goes for the first time a particular mouse
reaches the centre. If this is something cheap, like a certificate, there
is no problem if there are lots of new mice. Also the contestant has
concrete evidence of their achievement.
I completely agree about wall followers. These are much easier to make
than maze solvers and many more people could imagine making a successful one.
Regards,
Duncan
