Competitions

Hi Everyone,

I have just heard that there is due to be a "RoboFesta Europe" in
2004. There will be a large number of robot competitions across Europe in
that year. There are early plans for a trial event in the U.K. in 2002/3.

We need to be in the forefront of this to ensure that Micromouse
takes its place with the "sexy" competitions like robot football.

I suggest that we try and find groups in the rest of Europe (and
possibly elsewhere) that would like to compete and try out the logistics of
running an event over the internet. As long as the mazes are the same, there
is no reason why the mice all have to be in the same place.

The most important thing is to raise the profile of the event to get
lots of new mouse builders involved. We need to use the event to show that
micromouse is sufficiently challenging compared to things like Techno Games
and sufficiently cheap and "do-able" compared to things like robot football.
With any luck there will be TV coverage of the events to help us get our
message across.

I shall post more information as it becomes available. This is just
a very early warning so that there is plenty of time for anyone who wants to
build a new mouse!

        Regards,

        Duncan
